Your Chic Summer Shabbat Table
Neon taper candles, “schmutz” napkins, and more to brighten your Friday night

GOLDA fam,
Whether you’re blasting the A/C inside or sitting down to eat beachside, summer is the best time to up your Shabbat dinner table game. There are so many fun ways to brighten your Friday table and make this night different from all other nights of the week.
Here are my five favorite picks:
I feel zero shame telling you that neon tapers are the reason I started lighting candles on Shabbat. They are so bright and fun that I end up leaving them out all week. The best brand I’ve found is Pink Stories. They’re made in the German Alps—which, eh. But look how pretty! Also, they come in sets of three, aka obviously were not designed to be Shabbat candles, but I say buy two sets and we’ll show ‘em.
I usually go for the bright pinks, but this “Papaya Sand” set is the only one in stock at ABC Home, and it’s a fun change of pace.
I love how seamlessly Via Maris fuses sleek, industrial style with classic Jewish design, and this Rest Shabbat Candleholder is no exception. I have it in the sand colorway, but this sage version feels right for summer Shabbat evenings—and goes perfectly with those orange taper candles above. Founder Dana Hollar Schwartz is all about redefining Judaica for our modern homes, helping us connect to objects—and traditions—that might have otherwise seemed inaccessible or outdated. Amen to that!
Ahyin Judaica founder Micaela Ezra designs these stunning challah covers, which are embroidered by hand by female artisans in Mexico’s Yucatan region. The result is something at once deeply Jewish and beautifully cross-cultural. This particular design is inspired by the Garden of Eden, featuring symbols of blessing, fertility, and protection. I like to think of items like this as heirlooms-to-be.
Remi Attia’s Italian and Jewish family is the inspiration behind The Nosh Table, which means you can buy these fun schmutz cotton napkins along with a buon appetito set. I love that these products are beautifully designed but also have a sense of humor. If you’re not ready to commit, try their new line of disposable paper products.
I have been so excited about this Shabbat Box since I got to see one in person a few weeks ago. Oneg founder Jeanie Milbauer has solved the biggest obstacle when it comes to starting a Shabbat practice: the dual question of What do I need and how do I do it?
In the process she’s created the perfect gift for weddings, housewarmings, graduations, and really any occasion. Inside Oneg’s Shabbat Box are wood-carved candlesticks, wax candles, a match dish (she’s truly thought of everything), a ceramic stemless kiddush cup, a linen challah cover, four Shabbat guidebooks, and conversation cards that connect to each week’s Torah portion. You can choose from different color options for the candlesticks and challah covers, and together the box is as beautiful as it is ingenious.
What better way to upgrade your summer Shabbat?!

Before I leave you to that beachside Shabbat dinner (my invite must have gotten lost), I wanted to introduce GOLDA’s first ever intern! Emily Bunder is a 19-year-old history student from London who has joined the GOLDA fam this summer. Half British, half American, Emily loves everything arts and culture and describes herself as a Jewish version of Robin from How I Met Your Mother. Welcome, Emily!
