Big news: I’m writing this newsletter from the brand new GOLDA HQ on the Upper West Side.

GOLDA has grown so much since I launched this newsletter just over a year ago. It’s become a Jewish lifestyle destination built around one idea: making Jewish life bright, beautiful, and full of meaning.

We have a lot of big things coming your way. But first, we needed to make our new office official. So we asked our friend Rabbi Arielle Stein to come by and help us put up our mezuzah:

That cute pink lucite mezuzah is from Apeloig Collection, a Judaica company founded by sisters Daniela and Gabriela Apeloig. They’re from Venezuela and now live in Miami, where they design sleek, modern Jewish ritual objects. Their mezuzahs come in all sorts of fun colors, and they really brighten up an entryway (plus they make a very good baby gift!). GOLDA readers can get 10% off using our link

Now that we’re settled and sanctified, I’m excited to share our slate of upcoming events:

Tonight is the second event in the Unpacking the Book series GOLDA hosts with the Jewish Book Council at The Jewish Museum. I’ll be interviewing longtime New Yorker writer Nicholas Lemann and immigration journalist Daniela Gerson about their new books. Lemann’s Returning: A Search for Home Across Three Centuries and Gerson’s The Wanderers: A Story of Exile, Survival, and Unexpected Love in the Shadow of World War II both trace family histories and probe themes of longing and identity. There’s still room to join us at 7 p.m. tonight; register here

We’re hosting the second GOLDA Mahjong Night on Tuesday, April 28 on the Upper East Side. For mahj mavens, newcomers, and everyone in between. Sign up here.

On Thursday, April 30 I’ll be moderating a conversation at the Paley Center that’s close to my heart: Jewish Storytelling in the Podcast Era. A lot of you know me from my Unorthodox podcast days and it’s been exciting to watch the Jewish podcast landscape flourish in recent years. You’ll hear from podcasters Noam Weissman (Wondering Jews), Margarita Lyadova (People Jew Wanna Know), and Jen Richler (Can We Talk). Register here

GOLDA @ The Harmonie Club

One of my favorite places in New York City is The Harmonie Club. Founded in 1852 by German-Jewish immigrants, it’s one of the city’s oldest and most distinguished private social clubs. It has been an important cultural and social center for New York’s Jewish community and a gathering place for civic, intellectual, and philanthropic life. Today, the club stands out for its rich history and tradition of fostering community among members and their families while honoring its Jewish heritage and longstanding role in the city’s social fabric.

That’s why it’s especially thrilling to announce that GOLDA will be coming to The Harmonie Club for a special residency. We’ll be bringing our signature conversations about Jewish culture and creativity to this beautiful, storied space with a brand new shoppable event series. Each evening will feature a themed discussion with my favorite Jewish artists, designers, or writers, followed by a reception and pop-up market.

We’ll be kicking off the series on Wednesday, May 27 with a lineup of fabulous authors talking about the rich tradition of Jewish storytelling. And here’s the great news: GOLDA readers can join Harmonie members and their guests at each these events. Click here to join us.

If you want to bring GOLDA to your community, send us a note at [email protected]

Here’s to more square footage, more events, more of everything you love from GOLDA.

Meanwhile, I’m loving the new Susan Alexandra x Bombas sock collab. Mazel, SA!

Stay GOLDA,

Stephanie
